The $350M project services the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development, the NICM Health Research Institute, and Translational Health Research Institute, as well as being a resource for the building’s key tenant, CSIRO.
The project’s designated mechanical contractor entrusted Masterflow’s engineers and team to specify and supply the new plantroom’s pumps, tanks and air/dirt separators.

Our Process:
12x Bakerflow centrifugal pumps were supplied for the indoor plantroom, all with the Back Pull Out (BPO) feature that makes servicing simple and easy. To learn more about the Bakerflow family and details surrounding BPO, click here.
A 2500L, 5-bar rated buffer tank and 1000L vertical heating water buffer tank were also supplied by Masterflow. Each of these Aquazone tanks are pre-insulated and cladded, maintaining the tank’s water temperature to ensure correct system operating conditions are maintained.
Additionally, a Sealed DN150mm and DN100mm Optivent Air & Dirt Separator were delivered, with automatic air vent fitted to the top, and a ball valve for the dirt chamber. Each was ordered with its own Automatic Purge System and fully automated steel Control Panel for BMS operation & control.
Outcomes:
Early into the operating process, it seemed to our client that there was unnatural motor noise. Our technicians visited the client’s site to assist a contractor in diagnosing this issue, which turned out to be a minor valve issue that was swiftly corrected.
