Designed for closed-loop circuits, these units provide backflow prevention in accordance with AS3500 National Plumbing and Drainage Regulations and ensure automatic refilling of the system.
The physical air gap of the break tank eliminates the possibility of back flow to the water supply system.
Features
These are generally supplied within a wall-mount enclosure, containing:
- Pressure pumps(s)
- A break tank
- A regulator valve
- Pressure switches
- Associated wiring
Outlet pressures:
- 250kPa
- 500kPa
- 650kPa
Options include:
- Standard (low-pressure)
- Run Relay (low-pressure + pump run status)
- Deluxe (pump run status, low-pressure, high pressure, common fault)
- Pressurisation package, which is a refill unit, an expansion tank, a reducing valve and an air release valve
Frequently asked Questions
- Can the Masterflow refill unit be installed outside?
Yes. However, the surface finish is powder coated, so over time they will fade. If tanks are to be in salt spray environments, a special paint finish or stainless steel version will be required at extra cost. Remember to request this with the sales staff when obtaining pricing.
- Is the location of the refill unit important? Is there a preferred position within the system to install the tank?
Where the refill unit will be located within the building is important and must be communicated to the Masterflow Sales Staff to make a suitable selection. By location, we mean basement, on a roof plantroom and so on. The position within the system of the refill unit will always be on the return side of the circuit.
- Why are refill units sometimes referred to as pressurisation units? Are they the same thing?
The name “pressurisation” is common in the UK and other parts of Europe. Because these devices are refilling, they are in effect maintaining the pressure in the circuit (pressurising) and hence the name pressurisation. So yes, they are the same thing!
- If my system is operating at higher pressures, such as 1000kPa, can the Masterflow refill units be upgraded?
The standard range of automatic refill units are suitable for system pressures up to 550kpa. Above this, special high pressure versions can be custom made. There is no limit to the pressures we can cater for.
