THUNDER STRIKES: Clivet Unleashes Eco-Heatpumps with the R290 Refrigerant
2 min read
The Promise: Revolutionise temperature and efficiency standards.
The Focus: Innovation and sustainability.
The Features: A multitude; do read on.
The new THUNDER heat pumps boast a plethora of standout features, among them; high-temperature capabilities, use of a natural refrigerant, and the integration of advanced technology, setting it apart and above from conventional systems.
Key Features:
- Reversible Heat Pump: The Clivet Thunder is an air-cooled reversible heat pump equipped with high efficiency DC fans (ATEX) and inverter scroll compressors, designed specifically for use with the R290 refrigerant.
- Lowest GWP: R290 is a natural refrigerant based on propane with an ultra-low GWP (Global Warming Potential = 3). This eco-conscious refrigerant hugely reduces environmental impact, contributing to a greener future and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Wide Range of Capacities: Available in capacities from 35kW to 73kW, the Thunder heat pump caters to diverse heating and cooling needs for residential, commercial, and industrial settings
- High Temperature, High Performance: With heating, cooling, and domestic hot water production capabilities reaching up to 75°C, it accommodates diverse applications and is one of the only high-temp heat-pumps available. High seasonal efficiency in heating (SCOP W35 up to 4.7, SCOP W55 up to 3.6), ensures significant energy savings and reduced operating costs.
- Advanced Safety Concepts: Included as standard are advanced safety features such as double leak detector sensors, an ATEX extraction fan that triggers when leakage is detected and a switch selector for automated fan activation. A degasser filter is available to further prevent leakage into the building.
- Wide Operating Range: Operating in heating from -20°C to +42°C ambient, and cooling from –10 deg C to +48 deg C, the Thunder heat pump ensures reliable performance even in varying weather conditions.
- Modular Design: Up to six units can be hydraulically connected in parallel, and up to 16 units can be managed in a local network, allowing for flexible installation options and scalability. As multiple modules can be installed close together, Clivet claims the highest power/footprint ratio for this type of product.
- Low Noise Operation: The Thunder range offers three distinct acoustic levels: basic (SC), silenced (LN), and super-silenced (EN), with the latter offering from –6 to –10 dB less noise than the SC models.
The Clivet Thunder chiller heralds a new era in HVAC innovation. Its high-temperature capabilities, use of natural refrigerant, minimal noise options and overall advanced technology mark it as a leader in sustainability and performance.
